Abisola Helen's Story
Life has been good to me. The many experiences I had and lessons learned at The Ville contributed to my being at this place in my life. I am fortunate to be living the dream I had at age 13 to become a psychologist. Dr. Barbara Sizemore, Dr. Anderson Thompson and others were wonderful role models and encouraged me. I moved to New Jersey in 1978 to begin my doctoral program at Rutgers University in New Brunswick with the intention of returning home to Chicago upon completing my degree. Somehow I never left.
At the present time I am employed as the Director of the Counseling and Health & Wellness Centers at New Jersey City University. I have a part-time private practice.
I live in the suburban town of Montclair,...Expand for more
NJ just outside of New York City. It is a wonderful, small town that has a highly diverse population. Many of the people who live here are involved in the arts and/or the field of education. I love it since I work in higher education and I am also an artist. However, I am still connected to family and friends in the Chicago area and return home at least twice a year.
I am divorced and have no children. I am passionate about living my life to the fullest, making a positive difference in the world, my work and the service I provide to my spiritual/church community. I am fortunate to have wonderful and supportive family and friends.
I am open to communicating with my former classmates.
